Compassion Church Plant in Colombia

Compassion International is a Christ-centered, child-focused, church-driven organization that aligns well with the outreach priorities of Christ the Rock.  Together we value empowering the local church to make disciples who make disciples.  This year, Christ The Rock will be supporting a new church that will be created in Tasejeras, Colombia. This city was identified by Compassion International-Colombia as an area needing a Christ-centered church with a vision to help lift children out of poverty. As part of its evangelistic efforts, the mother church, Jesús el Pan de Vida, planted Jesucristo es el Señor in Tasajeras, a nearby community.

Tasajeras is a small fishing village on narrow strip of land between the Caribbean Sea and a coastal wetland. Home to 8,000 mostly Indigenous Colombians. This small village has one of the highest rates of poverty in the country, there is a 70% unemployment rate. There is no police station, only one person is in charge of safety in the entire village, and there is only one health center and one school.

Pastor Ulises has been married to his wife for 26 years. Together they have three children. For the last 20 years, Pastor Ulises has served in various leadership roles for outreach ministries, and his wife has served as a women’s ministry leader. Pastor Ulises is characterized as a helpful, kind and respectful man who counsels his flock with wisdom.  He is also good at mobilizing and managing resources.  He and his wife have answered God’s call to pastor Jesucristo es el Señor in Tasajeras, moved by compassion to help those in need in the community.  They trust that God will establish His kingdom here and transform the hearts of its people.  

Join the mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ in Tasejeras, Colombia. There is a need of $105,263 in order to plant this new church. We will provide updates as progress is made.

Equipped to Share: The Gospel & Your Testimony

As disciples living the Intentional Life, we are called to GO live on mission, proclaiming and demonstrating the Gospel. Come to Equipped to Share, and learn how to share your own testimony as well as the whole story of Jesus coming to save humankind. This event will be an excellent opportunity for both seasoned believers and those new to the faith to learn, grow, and connect. We will have lunch for participants.

NORTH AFRICA:

April 4-12, 2025 | The team will be collaborating with Christ’s Church of Flagstaff in North Africa helping at the English school as well as doing other service projects. 

ALASKA:

July 6-14, 2025 | The team will help staff Primary Camp (grades 3-4) at Tanalian Bible Camp, our ministry partners in Port Alsworth. Team members will serve with a cabin/small group of kids, participating in activities, discussing the Bible teachings, and loving them in Jesus’ name.

Community Partners | Christ The Rock supports and partners locally with Fox Valley Jail Ministry, Vida Medical Clinic & Support Services, Life Promotions, Crossfire Ranch, World Relief, and Shepherd’s Care to bring the Gospel and love of Christ to the people they serve. Christ The Rock Food Pantry | Our food pantry helps meet the needs of 700-1,000+ people in the Fox Valley each year. Anyone in need of food can get started here. If you’d like to help feed the hungry in our community, our food donation shelves are located just inside our main/front doors, Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Fridays 8:00 am-2:00 pm, and on Sunday mornings.

This One’s for the Girls | Christ The Rock reaches out to women exploited in the Fox Valley’s sex industry. Our point of entry is local exotic dance clubs, where our teams offer the love of Christ, help for trafficked women we encounter, and practical resources and support for those who wish to exit the industry. United States Outreach

Alaska | Christ The Rock partners with Tanalian Bible Camp in Port Alsworth. Alaska has some of the nation’s highest rates of suicide and alcoholism, and Tanalian works with local churches to bring the hope of the Gospel to kids in a camp setting.
