It isn’t often that we link things like “Lent” and fasting and spiritual disciplines to the idea of mission and reaching others. But these ideas are all connected. This week, we hear from Bob Blincoe, the Director of Frontiers, a dynamic missions organization. He challenges each of us to consider our place in God’s global mission of redeeming humanity and all of creation.
Our next series will look at the symbol and practices of the season of Lent. Lent is a fixed amount of time set aside to focus on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It's an invitation to interrupt our daily rhythms to symbolically follow Jesus into the wilderness. Lent is a call to fasting and self-denial, though not for the sake of denial itself. It is a period to empty ourselves of lesser things so that we might be filled with the greater things of the gospel.
