In Acts 2, we have the first example of a disciple of Jesus living out the Great Commission. Peter delivers the Gospel, and then declares that all believers should repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ so that they may receive the gift of the Spirit. The three thousand that were baptized became the early church and they communed and broke bread together in observance of another command of Jesus. In the fifth week of our series, we look at the commands of Baptism and Communion.
Jesus said, “If you keep my commands, you will abide in my love (John 15:10a ESV). Keeping the commandment of Jesus is foundational to abiding in Jesus and becoming the person God intends us to be. When we hear the word “command”, most of us think of something restrictive. The truth us, the commands of Jesus don’t restrict us- they bring us freedom and joy. In this series, we will look at the 7 main commands that Jesus gave to His followers, so that we might experience more of His love and be transformed to reflect His image!
