We live in a world that is out of balance. People are not treated fairly or equally. Inequality breaks the heart of God…and He not only wants it to break our heart too, but also wants us to do something about it. Loving our neighbor as our self is something that is very important to God. Jesus called it the second greatest commandment. This is the first message in a 4 week topical study of the second greatest commandment. This message will look at how the Bible answers the questions, “who is our neighbor?” and “why is loving our neighbor as ourselves so important to God?
In Matthew 22:35-40, Jesus tells us that loving our neighbors is the second greatest commandment -- second only to loving God with our whole heart, soul and mind. But what does it mean to really love our neighbors? What would our workplaces, neighborhoods and families look like if we truly loved everyone -- including those from different backgrounds, cultures, races or belief systems? Can love overcome fear, apathy and prejudice?
