We live in a culture that loves a good revenge story. We want to see people get what they are due. When we’re wronged, we want things to be “made right.” But in this last message in our series, “It’s a Matter of the Heart”, Jesus teaches us what it means to be people of love. Matthew 5:38-42 is passage of scripture that doesn’t teach passivity and weakness, but is a challenge to live as examples of “extra-mile" love and peace. It’s a call to live and love as salt and light to the world. Matthew 5:43-48 are among some of Jesus’ most famous words and put into context the entire Sermon on the Mount. As people who belong to God’s Kingdom, we are called to love.
