What exactly did our founding fathers mean when they penned the phrase the “pursuit of happiness” in 1776? It might not be what you think. America was founded on the idea that happiness is found in seeking the peace and prosperity of other people. This isn’t an original idea to America – it’s from the heart of Jesus who said, “it is more blessed to give than receive.” Acts 20:35b (ESV). In this message, we explore the often overlooked aspect of happiness that comes from actively seeking to advance the wellbeing of other people.
